Let's see if I can get this tapatalk to work right.

Ok, I think that'll work...

See that metal ring, the part with the screws. It holds the lens to the camera. I'm sure there's a proper name for it, but I don't know what it is. Any way, one side is loose, I can push on it, and it moves up and down a little bit. Only on the left side, as connected to the camera viewing from the rear. Doesn't the light get flipped around inside the lens? If it does, that'd be the right side of the picture, no?

Any way, the metal ring is loose on the left side, tight on the right. All of those screws are tight though. Could this be my focusing issue?

I'm gonna have to send it in for service, huh?

Ok, I guess that thing is called the lens mount bayonet. I ever so gently took out a whole bunch of screws, removed the middle plastic ring leaving the electrical contacts hanging on a ribbon and ever so gently pulled off the bayonet to find a little tiny itty bitty almost microscopic plastic piece laying on it's side on the ring the bayonet screws to.

Using the, "If it fits, it must go there!" method of assembly, I figured out it was an alignment tab for the bayonet itself. Meaning, the bayonet was actually loose, but I didn't know it because I tightened it down on top of that plastic piece. Put it all back together again, hoping everything went back in place properly. Total time was about 30 minutes. Though, I could do it again in 2 minutes now if I had to. Yeah, it was that simple. But I didn't know what to expect so I took great care the first time.

Took a bunch of test shots, and all seem to be good on the right side of the photo now. I just didn't like the prospect of not having my lens for two or three weeks or more...

This is a do-over, now that the lens is fixed. 'course I screwed this one up too. Just ignore my shadow, I'm such a ditz sometimes. :eyetwitch:

Here's another photo I took today. Had a slight panic attack as it looked like I suddenly got a bad case of the D7k oil spots!

After much thought and testing, I've decided it was slight condensation on the lens that I smeared around into spots without seeing it. I cleaned the lens immediately before I took this shot, and the camera had just come from the A/C into a slightly humid evening.

Today is a study in Black and White photography.

But first, I found these wild grapes on the way! Mmmmmm!

Here's the start of my treacherous journey, risking certain death along the way. Yeah, ok, nobody cares, I know. Here's the photos.

There's a really cool Geocache here. Took us 2 or 3 trips to find it.

A little architectural detail.

This is the Tiffin River Bridge on the Wabash Cannonball Trail (of song fame!) It is one of 13 bridges along the 63 mile trail, and is the longest one you'll encounter on this trail topping out at 210 feet long. Due to vegetation growth and water, I couldn't even get the whole bridge in the scene. (I tried!) Parts of this trail are also part of the North Country National Scenic Trail, a 4,600 mile hiking trail connecting the Lewis and Clark Trail in Western North Dakota with the Appalachian Trail in upstate New York.

Log Jam on the Tiffin River. If I could've reached that distracting branch in the middle, it surely wouldn't be in this photo.

So, what did you use to get this? I like the shot and effect.

I used my camera.

It's actually a 9 shot HDR photo. I thought I was going to burn my eyes out taking this!

As far as the sunbow, they're around every harvest season when there's no wind. No camera needed to see it, so I'm guessing it's probably corn/soybean processing dust in the air.

It's slightly cropped to take the telephone poles out of the picture, and I removed a bunch of trash from the grass in post. It's right next to a major country road.

Today's photo is called, "Photographic Failure"
20130911-_1RB9891_2_3.jpg

...or failure to pay attention to detail. But I'm so tired, I can't go do it again. Plus I'd take it out in post, but I'm not that smart! :)

Yup, I was talking about the power lines. It's not that big of a deal though.

I'm trying to teach myself to pay attention to the whole scene. Total failure on this one, I got so fixated on the clouds, I forgot about the power lines!
