Hello Camera - my daily photos

And what I learned: dont do 2 shootings at once. I know women are said to be great at multitasking but I am not! I flow away in concentration, one thing at a time.

Wasn't satisfied with one of the pictures I should deliver for the website (the most important, grr) and think it was because I was doing these training pictures at the same time.

Talked to the girl and we will do it again. Also she asked me if I could set up a new website for her, I am trying to get out of her where she wants it hosted but dont think she knows much about this, thinking of suggesting Wordpress. If she's okay with Wordpress, Im thinking around $140. Shouldnt take to long to set up.

Did 5 dogs today, had a blast! Woman with 3 border collies, she was soooo sweat, said so many nice things about my photography and my style, and her dogs were simply amazing. Looking forward to going through her pictures.

Selling training pictures are going horrible, so think I will maybe come up with another idea about how to do this. I dont even think myself its to expensive.

Instead of buying the amount of pictures you want, I am thinking about a package and then you can download them, the price is for the whole package. Less people - more expensive.

What do you think about this picture??

Better in bw? I think it is...... maybe.

How much do these people pay to have their dog trained? Once trained what it the charge for breeding them or for the pups of a trained dog. \

These people use your great photos to "Sell" their dog or its services. Your photos are wonderful. Sell them for what they are worth.

Im not sure if its because they dont wanna pay, or they just dont wanna have the pictures. May be a bad setup, as the trainer asked around if people were interested, several agreed, some didnt know I was coming - I am thinking this have to be done another way. They have to agree with a price and signup for this, somehow.

9 out of 10 dont train for being able to breed on their dogs, they just do it for the fun of it (and sometimes competitions).

I just thought it would be nice if people bought a lot of the pictures and were be happy with them, didnt think they should chose few but expensive. Buuut, maybe my pictures dont really show dog training, maybe Im too "artsy" somehow.

Oh well, I myself are really happy with a lot of these pictures, and I had to try it out, to know how it would go.
And really, who would have known - I sold 7-8 pictures over 3 dog training sessions.

No opinions on color vs bw? Somehow I think the color version gets to cartoon-ish, but think the dog looks better on that one.

Ahh, finally, 1 ordered 5 pictures and wrote me, if she could order more later. Happy now :)

Congrats wud!
Great start :)

Regarding the B&W/Color, i like the color cos the dog offers the B7W aspect to the shot.
but i would've liked either more if the half-person in the background was absent :)

The what?

Yes! Very bad for the picture, with her standing. Took a lot of red color out, but havent helped enough.

My typos are getting a little out of hand :p

I meant the dog has the B&W aspect it, so adds some nice contrast to the color photo..

about the lady, maybe you can try cloning her out?? :)
unless of course she wants to be there the way she is :)

Hahaha! I thought it was some edit-style - I even googled B7W. Funny.

Not good enough with a clone tool (or, more a lasso tool). There is a chance she wants it printed, Im afraid its gonna show then.

I agree. The color is better for the dog BUT widen out and get the person or shoot at an angle where the person is not in there. As far as selling them, don't sell yourself short. Your photography is very good especially for the dogs. You might just consider the training photos as good exposure for you to bring in more of the pet portrait trade. People can see and possibly buy but when they go to your web site to see them they will see your portraits and possibly want one then.

Im getting there, slowly but steady :)

Good point! Thanks. (And thats why I have a "problem" with prices, I still make mistakes)

But anyhow - my personal opinon about this next photo it YES!! I think I almost wanna get it up on my own wall.

To colorful? I tried to lower saturation, but this only makes it more grey-ish.
Do I have to much going on..?

Had a photographer coming by yesterday, so sweet and very talented, she went through my pictures to give me critique - buuut she thought I was better technically than she expected, so not much to say. Wow! Of course she said a few things which was very great to hear, stuff I will definitely think about. Especially get closer, TO close actually.

Then she helped me look at which pictures could be used for a portfolio so someday I hopefully could start looking for an apprenticeship (fingers crossed). And gave me the assignment, get more portraits of people. Good portraits, pictures which tells a story. That is so exciting :)

So this evening I am doing a simple but hopefully powerful portrait of a guy, right after he been at boxing training. Will try a few pictures during training too, but not sure how well this will work, since I dont own a flash.

Will use my 35mm first and then switch to 50mm for the portraits.

Tried a few portraits, I think this was the best:

Something about this I like too, but seems to lack some intensity?
