re: #1364

Hi Jeff

In nature, as in photography, sometimes things are "nut" like we would like them.

Nowadays, in this part of Europe, we are going through the highest and longest heat
wave sine record time. The heat is driving me "nuts". Water levels are low. So it is
to everyone to decide if they should water their garden and plant beds. At this point,
no one was observed "live" watering the sidewalks! …this would be rather "nuts"

I know, …you see me coming! …or "nut"?

When a scene looks too dull, one may pop it up by locally applying adjustments i.e.
on mains elements of a take. Here, I think you went to far with the sliders in a too
widespread application.

Since this file is already saved, go back to your RAW and adjust the whole take's WB
and tonal range if necessary, making sure that all stays natural even if dull still. Now,
comes the artist! Your subject and main elements of the decor (tree and grass) may
be locally adjusted for colour and what "nut".

Your take will end up looking different for sure, closer to a natural rendition. Or nut?

Have a good day… (and show me what came out of it!)

This Heron was looking out over the water watching a front of heavy rain coming across the bay toward it. Taken with Nikon D7000 using a Nikon 70-300VR lens.

Great take, Jeff! …btw, blow the rain clouds in our direction…
we would be grateful…

Have a good time!

Thanks for your comment. Every afternoon we have thunder and lightning accompanied by a lot of rain. I lost one of my trees about a week ago due to the rain and storms we are having.

i see you havent forgot about your D7000 Jeff, cool shots, nice beady eyes on these birds

When I am out shooting birds and wildlife I have my Nikon 70-200VR f2.8 on the D600 and my 70-300VR on the D7000. This way if I need more reach I grab the D7000 and if it is closer I use the D600. Having the 70-300VR on the D7000 gives me an effective reach of 450mm and lets me get out there a little farther. Both are great cameras!

Hi Jeff,

Should you ever be published, make sure this goes in the section
"best of". I like that!

Have a good day…

Thank you very much for your kind words. This is more my style of photograph than the last several I have been posting. I go out looking and there is just not much out there right now to take pictures of.

I appreciate all the comments. I guess due to the heat there just hasn't been any wildlife to take pictures of, but I did manage to get a few yesterday.

This little guy or gal was panting due to the heat along with a few others that I saw on the pier.
