Ordering pictures online / e-commerce

OK, I just checked and you can set up a package as a print with a download. Does that help you?

You could also tie it to download size

Order a 5x7 and get a 1mb downoad
order a 8x10 and get a 2mb download
order a 11x14 and get a 3mb download
anything bigger and get a full size download

want just a download and it cost you x amount of whatever your currency is.

I think there is also a Package option the Zenfolio You could package the print with the download the same as you do a print now. I have not done that but I was in there yesterday and I did see the package option. I will check that out and let you know. If that was the only download option that would be nice. Buy a print and get a free download.

Was just about to say, for a package I might as well do as I do now, send it all via mail, but then you went all detective!

Well I gave me a great idea. I had not thought about packaging the the download with the print. Everyone nowadays want to put things on Facebook or Twitter. Don't think I will let anyone download anything over what would look good on facebook though. Maybe a 1mb download, I have not checked but 640x480 would be a great download size. Look goo online but not good at all for print.

I think Don is ROCKING THIS WORLD WIDE WEB! Thats amazing! I think it was exactly what I was looking for - people can choose only download or print + download!

For web + print sized download, Im just looking into if the web file only could come with logo on, that could be pretty smart for my advertising.

Think my husband would like to thank you too, I've been pretty angry since he came home lol.

I'm starting to get it all now and I see Helenes points with printing. So will try to offer this, but still with the possibility to just get original + websized print. Just talked on the phone with a woman (photographing her family this weekend) and she said, she would mostly use the pictures for making photo books and stuff like that - and I think a lot of people like playing around with this themselves.

Have been comparing print prices with the place I normally recommend, for the smallest prints Zenfolio takes more than twice the price - but for A4 its actually a bit cheaper.

So right now I am considering these available options:

Smallest print (thinking of leaving this, due to the price)
A3 print
A4 print
1 special product - framed or wrap around, still browsing to see which I prefer

All comes with websized download file.

Btw, Don, instead of the 1mb size download, you can just chose which size you want for the longest size (like 640px).

I'm glad to see you're finally coming to a solution. I went through much the same thing when I was looking for an online solution. Zenfolio's customer support is also very good. They respond quickly which is important when a customer is waiting for an order.

Also, just something to remember: some of my "older" clients who are used to having prints developed from film (so many years ago) are used to thicker paper and are surprised when they get the prints . . . paper is thinner. So I have learned to explain it to them before they get their order. Different technology (digital) means different paper.

Yay, I think I got it now.

I upload a low res file with my logo on - this can only be bought as a download file, for online use. Zenfolio recognize this resolution, I think, so it wont let people chose print. Either this, or I did something correct in marking this file and chosing a specific pricelist (web download).

And then I upload the same but in high resolution, this can only be bought as a print, which goes through Zenfolio/me.

Done :)

If people want the full resolution file, they will have to email me and ask about it, and then pay double.

I ordered some 5X7 prints from my Zenfolio account so I can see how good the printing is. There are several different suppliers of prints from them. Does anyone here have any experience with the quality of any of them?

I am supposed to get the prints Saturday in the mail. I will let you know how they look.

Great :) I am going to do the same, from Photobox. Read some threads from people who have used them, most were very happy, a few (2-3 persons) got them to dark but when telling Photobox, the got new and correct pictures very fast.

After a lot of research on the past years I have chosen Zenfolio. First of all because they have integrated services and then setup fee and running fee is very cheap. We have 2 European labs to print for us but then you can self- fulfill your products wherever whenever you want using whatever money you want.
The quality of their support is excellent, site design is couple of clicks away no need to know any programming languages. Services and features are all time updated, I remember when I joined there was no blog but now there is an integrated one. You can upload a 44 Gb file.
All in all cost 100 euros/year that means 8.33/month.

Sometime people complain that the site is slow at times, but I never experienced that.
My experience with them is very good, I have a business account and for the money I pay I am happy.

Skytalker, very happy to hear this :)

I am thinking about moving my entire site to ZF too, but not done with the desing yet. Would have loved if I could get full frame pictures as on my current site, but this cant be done. Just looked at yours, looks really good and professionel. Beautiful pictures! Will look more later, as Im using my phone now.
If you wanna see my mess ;) its whatupdog.zenfolio.com

I ordered some prints from my Zenfolio site recently and have finally gotten them back. I must say the service was fast. They finished the order in just a few days and had them in the mail with tracking number to me. The quality was every bit as good as the files I sent them. I ordered one that was light but wanted to see what they would do with it. It would have been correctable in printing but they printed it as it was without correction. That could be good or bad. So you really need to make sure what you have is the way you want it.

Overall very pleased.

Don, I think when ordering, you can specify if if you want color correction... If you don't, they print exactly as submitted...
