I got a PM suggesting a few corrections…

and to close down my lens to increase depth of field!

I shall remember this!

I should have guessed the lens as i did it years ago with a Tamron 500 mirror lens,it was the background that kept the secret for you.

I didn't see this thread (I guess it's because I haven't been as active as I wanted) soon enough. Looking at the flower shots at a closer view, the donut like bokeh is what gave it away for me which is the characteristic of the mirror lenses. I knew it was an older lens since it didn't have any chip. Some are still a little soft, possibly due to camera shake or might need to stop down more. Thanks for sharing the images.

Some are still a little soft,
Well of course, 500 mm ƒ8… the DoF is paper thin!

…possibly due to camera shake or
Nope, as said: full mid day sun light 1/125s!

…might need to stop down more.
Oh… that one hurts! This lens cannot be stepped down since it has only one
aperture: ƒ8, no more!

Vbrg,

That is interesting about the lack of aperture adjustment. Sorry about my statements but I was just simply providing feedback on what you posted. This is what most owners have commented also about mirror lenses. I'm just not a fan and it is all good.

Kodiak is a bit sensitive to criticism at the moment :highly_amused:, after all it's not everyday you get a chance to share the Most Powerful MACRO Lens in the World!

But I for one appreciated your comment from an educational point of view.

Kodiak, I love you man! ;)

Hey Nathan,

So there you are! …you should know this:
I am sensitive to criticism only when someone dares criticize my sensitivity to criticism! =)

In fact, the sentence was created by my son Olivier as we were looking at the pictures I shot
to demonstrate the features of the lens to my sons. They were baffled by the bokeh, the colours,
the contrast, and the softness…

Since both a approaching different microphotographic techniques these days, I thought that
introducing them to this lens would be a good idea.

I very much appreciate your company too, buddy!

Have a good day…
