Im glad to see your pictures, they are superb (of course, I want to say, you clearly know a lot about photography), it surprised me a bit that you like PP a lot, positive that is.

Now we want more :anonymous:

My first photography instructor 30+ years ago told me. "You have to master the craft before you can master the art" Well our Craft consists of two major things. First learning how to use your camera. But with today's cameras you must know Post Processing. We did it all in the darkroom 30 years ago with chemistry, temperature, timing of the exposure and how long you left it in each chemical. I have no idea why people think post processing is cheating. It is just getting what your vision is on paper.

I dont see it as cheating at all, but some prefers PP which looks very natural, some prefers more noticeable PP (this is what I meant in my last comment). If PP couldnt be done on a computer, it would still be done in darkrooms.

What I want depends on the subject. Sometimes natural or even muted is great but sometimes I really like a higher contrast and some pop. I have seen yours shots too and you go the full range. You go with your vision which is great.

I have done some natural shots. Must have been tired ;) I'm not sure a creative style are something you can really control (unless you set your mind to it), its all a matter of taste - when we look at our image, either it looks finished or it doesnt.

Back to the subject of this thread though. You have a definite style on your dog shots. I think I could pick yours out of a group. Now your people shots are a different story. You have not quite developed a "Style" yet. They are good but just don't see your personality in them like I do your dog shots.

True!

It takes time to find your style, but I think its because you are limited by what you have learned so far. Also, experimenting with something new, will take you to unknown places in PS/LR/what ever you use for edit. My edit for dogs, looks weird on humans - I tried, lol.

Sorry Helene, for highjacking your thread :positive:

Snow White
I went out to the pasture to photograph the horses, so had my telephoto lens on the camera. The horses decided they wanted to follow me and check out the camera, so I couldn't get far enough away to get a good shot of them. This little guy was scurrying around . . . well, not exactly little. I guess he qualifies as one of my "kritters" . . . I'm not terribly fond of reptiles and insects, so I don't "seek" them out to photograph :-(

"Strolling . . ."

I made a trip to Roswell this weekend and on the way back, just outside the little "frontier town" of Lincoln, this huge elk was strolling casually across the road. I stopped in the middle of the road (the benefits of driving on country roads!) and shot the photos through the passenger window. I had never been so close to such a magnificent creature . . . they're usually very elusive . . . was a real treat for me.

Excellent capture Helene! Love the lighting and the stance & expression of the Elk.
