Things you own (besides camera gear) that your spouse doesn't get

Motorcycle "bling" and performance mods. (Including some from my previous bike that needs to be cleared out, LOL)

Knives. (Pocket, survival, machete, etc)

Electronics in general.

I'm lucky, as my wife really understands all of my "fun" stuff. She sees my love for photography and riding, so as long as I don't break our budget...

The knives and such she just chalks up to "boy" stuff.

Ah. let's see...
  • Books: lots and lots of them. Spousal unit put up shelves over the doorway and windows in my little office to accommodate many of my books.
  • Yarn. Lots and lots of it. It is organized by weight (thickness), color, and content.
  • Videos: This is more of a joint collection between my husband and me. Most of his are on DVD. Most of mine are as video files stored on the file server.
  • Music: vinyl, CD, and MP3s.

My wife doesn't get me modifying things. I buy motorbikes and they sit in my shed for months while I personalise them to my tastes and get them to my standards where I'm proud to own and ride them. I bought a 6 month old XR6 Turbo (Aussie members know what I'm talking about. It's basically a Ford family car that goes like a shower of sh!t). 1st thing I did was spend a heap of my hard earned making it look like I wanted and go even harder. ( Yes, I'm a 48yo petrol head. You never grow out of it ;) ) But then again, I don't get her spending $300 on a pair of shoes when she could buy a similar pair for $80 ;)

Hmmm... Lets see:
1) Firearms: "Why do I have so many? Why so many different Calibres? Why so many of the same?" She'll thank me after the Zombie Apocalypse.. :)
1.5) So much ammo: Uh... because the firearms need to shoot something... Duh.
2) Electronic Gadgets: Not really sure myself, but I like them. Maybe it is the flashy lights and noises.
3) Modifications to the Truck: No, I'm not 19 nor fascinated by the Fast & Furious movies... but I like to tinker.
4) Radar Detector: See #3 and #2
5) Archery stuff: Bows, Arrows, Targets:
6) So dang much Army gear: I personally don't understand this one myself... but the Army keeps giving me new stuff without allowing me to turn in the old stuff. I have a storage unit FULL of this crap waiting to turn in.

WE may b e twins separated at birth.

My wife does understand #1 and #1.5. Recently my son and I were going to a local gun show and before I left my wife asked me if we had enough ammo. I told her I thought we did. Her comment to me was "You can never have enough ammo." I bought 5,000 more rounds that day.

I can't believe no one mentioned camera bags! My wife claims I have more bags than she has purses. I hate it when she is right.

My other vice is electronics - especially computers. I have waaaay to much processing power at Casa de Eduard.

You mean like old copies of "Photographic" magazine that haven't been opened for 30+ years, I think I still have the "Shutterbug" issues when they did the history of Canon cameras (that is when I was on the dark side with Canon film), I have parts from my '73 Z28 (I wish I had the car and the parts). Sometimes on the way home from work I stop at the local thrift store and look at the hardback books. I have bought some to add to my collection, but now I mostly just download an ebook to my Kindle. I have my yellow and black boxes from Nikon. And the list could go on but she is after me to mow the lawn with one of the two mowers that work.

Firearms collector (specializing in Remington Model 12 .22 pump rifles, variety of handguns), former car nut (a long list), wood working, beer drinking.

As I'm married living in a community property state the "Things you own that your wife doesn't get" is a moot point. She enjoys jewelry and that's long been the trade off for my toys.
