You're back again with great pics

Thanks Michael.

Very Nice! I have the same lens for product stuff (small)

Cheers Pat. I knew you had both the 35 & 50, I had the choice of both of those lenses, I chose the 35 because I thought it would suit my needs more than the 50.
After a couple of days with the lens I know I made the right choice.

I really dig the last shot!

Thanks Deezey, I like that one too, the darker background really makes the blue pop.

I finished this one this afternoon. It was commissioned by a guy that bought a similar pen from me that he gave to his brother.

He wanted a light coloured Tasmanian timber, I suggested Huon Pine, he was happy with that.
I have upgraded the nib from the standard one supplied, I have the same nib in my own user, so I know that it should write nicely for him.

I used the 35 f1.8 for these shots. They are all HDR's, not sure if this has improved the look, but I wanted to try it anyway.
If anyone is interested, I can post the single shots beside the HDR's to compare the difference.

Here are a couple of pics of the latest incarnation of my lighting box. It has had plenty of modifications over the time, and some of them look very temporary.
It seems to do the job, but I would still like to get more improvements out of it.

The doors are on hinges, so I can move them to get the light on the subject. They swing right inside after use so I can slide the front door in place to keep the dust and spiders out while its not in use.

Finished this custom order for a regular customer today. 30-06 Springfield bullet casing, he chose the colour of the resin because it has some cultural meaning to him, and he wanted the rifle clip with the barrel pointing down. It uses a Parker refill with a twist transmission.

I used the Nikon 35 f1.8 with a CP filter for this shot.
I disconnected the top lights on the doors to try and cut down on multiple reflections.

Really nice pens and pics, I always favored the wood ones. I thought at one time I would do this and just never around to it.
Thanks Kevin. The timber pens are my favorites, even though I find the finishing process a bit tedious. The ones I enjoy making the most are the timber pens with a natural looking finish.
Most of my customers like the colorful resins though, so I tend to make more of them.

Well its been a while since I posted here. I have made the odd pen for orders since my last post, but didnt photograph them, lazy me.

I have started to make a batch of 50 cal. bullet pens, so I will take a few photos as I go. I got a box of fancy bullets from the local gun shop and I am using them for the writing end.
I have orders for 6 of these already, so a bit of lens money coming up for my lens stash.

I have drilled out 10 of them to suit a Parker refill and a twist transmission.
I have sat a couple of Winchester 308 shells there for comparison.
The 50 cal shells have been fired already, so they will need some work to be ready for a pen.

Looking forward to seeing how these progress... Nice!

I'll try to post a few progress pics as I go Pat.

Here is a pic of my prototype 50 cal pen. The pen on top is a 30-06.
The 50 cal has been sold, and I donated the 30-06 to the local RSL, they raffled it off and it was drawn on Rememberance Day, it raised $350 for the RSL which they will put to good use.
