Post your 'ALMOST' Photos..

Here's today's attempt at trying to photograph a very fast pileated woodpecker that decided to take off after I got a bunch of good images of him/her on a tree. If you are wondering where this guy is, it's the blur with a red spot in the lower left corner of the photo. See post #574 of Piperbarb's 2013 Project 365 to see what this guy really looked like.

It's really hard to photograph birds that do not fly straight. :)

This is what happens when the bill of my hat got in the way of the flash. :) It's supposed to be a slug on a dead log covered in moss and slimy mold.

The slug is in the center, if you're wondering.

Pat, I bet we are far from alone, but the only ones to admit it! :)

I have quickly learned the "Bill to the Back Spin Move" . I was really bad about it when I got my grip. Trying to get the camera into portrait position and try and snatch a hat at the same time never seems to work.

After calmly walking across in front of my pickup, I almost got a picture of this bobcat before he walked out of sight. Camera was in the backseat and slowed me down too much.

At Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge, Queen Butterfly with blade of grass in the way. It was real windy and the butterfly simply wouldn't stay put long enough for me to focus on it.

I've got literally hundreds of these types of shots. All from the same airshow.

In this case, 5 shots from the same pass, and a different obstacle in every shot.

Mike, I know the feeling... I had a great linup on a chipmunk, his cheeks bulging with seeds from the bird feeder.. he moved just a bit as I snapped... I captured bulging cheeks and the center of face covered by a WIDE blade of grass..

Threw it right in the crapper!! It is even worse on action shots like yours and I had similar panning race cars on a track..
