I'd like to know who coined the phrase, "ass gaskets".

I had to stop and think what you were taking about, boy this thread has gone down the toilet. For those of you who are asking the same question (what's an ass gasket?) It's those paper liners above the toilets in public restrooms that go between the toilet seat and your....... Thus the phrase. Never heard them called that before.

Very insightful reading this morning, I can honestly say I learned something new today! I have also read of "ass gasket" refering to the rubber gasket on the rear of a lens, but that's off topic, I like Axeman's explanation better!

It's interesting to me how all this evolved. (The codes, not the discussion). Back in the early 2000s I was working for a glass cutting company and the US. Dept. of Trans. required coding similar to these be etched on the glass that was to be used in Motor Homes. Our company developed a machine that used a laser to etch the code in the corner of a window before it was cut to shape. I just wish I was more into photography back then. I could have gottan so many good photos.
