Mansurov on Adobe's Creative Cloud Decision

One thing most people are not aware of is that Adobe owns the TIF format as well. They could deny rights to use it to others if they wished I suspect.

I would have thought that after the PostScript type face disaster they created Adobe would have learned.

Yeah, it's nice to see Nasim had the same reaction to this as most of us did, unlike that guy that got from Scott Kilby's group to try to put a nice spin on it. That guy's reputation for an objective opinion is shot.
I strongly believe (read - hope) that Adobe will reverse this decision and will return to the two-tier system that is working just fine. Time to remind Adobe of the age old idiom "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

That's because he's a fanboy and makes money off of Adobe products.

Kelby's team is SO invested with Adobe that I look at him as a marketing arm for their products. I'm OK with that, because if you use the stuff he's a great resource to further your knowledge of it, but I'm not one to put much weight on endorsements of Adobe decisions from anyone in The Kelby Group. It's their bread and butter, so they're going to sell you on the product.

I'm just glad I have CS6. I'll likely upgrade to LR5 for some of the new features and to be caught up there in case it goes into the cloud as well. But I hope Adobe reassesses things.

Thom Hogan took Adobe to task as well. Check out his blog postings for May 9, 2013 titled "Thom's Sine Waves" and "It's Not About Price" and on May 8, 2013 titled "A Few More Cloudy Thoughts" and "Cloudy Days". Good reads and well thought out discussion points IMHO.

Hogan makes a good point about the potential opportunity for Nikon. Too bad that Nikon can't deliver. He's right. But, maybe some other company will rise up and offer the consumer an alternative. I use Lightroom. I think that I will hold out and offer up a little passive resistance. I'll just boycott and hope that some other company does eventually deliver what I want. What else can we do?

I wish someone would tell Hogan to use even smaller type in his blog. I can still actually see some of the letters he uses.

He may have some decent things to say, but his blog isone of, if not the worst structured blogs I've ever seen. Must be easy as hell to maintain, because it's not easy to read.

I am getting fed up with all this 'In the cloud' bandwagon at the moment. It seems its the 'Cool' thing to do just like 3D movies last year.......
