Best micro four thirds cameras out there?

I previously had an Olympus E-PL1. Very nice images, controls were so-so. I now have the Nikon V1 which I'm generally pleased with. Micro 4/3'rds has great lens choices. If I was buying today, I'd either get the Olympus OM-D E-M5 or the Panasonic DMC-GF6.

And the lenses they are making for them are incredible...

Just to give everyone an idea on the size difference between the full version and M43. Although the camera looks bigger compared to the NEX, it has two kick a** lenses that are lighter than a 12 oz water bottle when you are hiking.

now put a nikkor 3200 next to that, and a 18-55 lens,, really compact,, and my 5100 is not much larger, and the convenient rear screen can be folded for when it is in the packpack.

Really good to hear that Nikon has a model now with a DX sensor, yes,, I will buy one when upgrade the 4/3 version.

Nikon -> BRING IT ON!

(I don't want to go back to Olympus, already been that route with OM1, PC, Point and shoots, etc),,

Everybody has their own idea as compact and portable. Others are happy shooting with their iphone and some are not. D7000 + 35mm f1.8G DX lens is a nice compact set-up for me already. It's just a matter on what you want to compromise.

If you want ultra compact, you start to loose a lot of the controls that you want and if they have the controls that you want, they might not have the lenses that you would like to use.

So my advice is instead of looking deep into the specs, just visit your nearest camera store and actually try the cameras instead of debating which system is better. I already know which one works for me and I'm sure it will be different with others just like with our DSLR and lenses.

You can pick up one of the original Olympus EP1's (not the ELP 1) for next to nothing used at KEH..you might get one and the pancake lens for it and try it out...we are talking like less than 200...
