March 20th. Line my GF is going through her passed mother's things and found this manuscript written by her great grand-mother. I found the script quality amazing. I guess in those days, young students really had to learn how to write, and I'm not talking about the spelling here. I think that they did have to practice how to write each letter. Now-days, anything goes as long as it doesn't take too much effort.

Ah, it feels good to rant. :)

Look what I bought today from a friend. It's kind of a souvenir for me as it was my first serious camera when I got into college to study photography. This was the minimum we had to get. Those days, I was envious of people that had a 35mm, but when it came to enlargements, this simple twin lens reflex blew the 35mm prints.

OMG I had one of those when I was in High School. I was doing a water study and standing in the middle of a creek when the strap let loose from the case and I just saw bubbles coming up at my feet. Luckily my Dad had listed it on his household insurance. I took that money and used it towards my Mamiya C330 that I still have. NICE FIND

I had one one of those back in the early 70s.

So who had one like this too. This is a picture of the camera that took that polaroid. The polaroid was in the back for over 3 years and I thought I'd give it a try just for fun. Since 1.3 volts batteries for lightmeters are hard to find, I guessed the exposure. Line was sitting in my living room in almost the dark so I used 1/2s @f2.8, hand held. I was surprised first to see that the polaroid was still (well almost) good and that my exposure guess was close. This was taken with my D700, 55 1.2 manual focus 1/200s @f2, iso 1250.

It brought back good memories to hear the sound of this still wonderful camera (talking about the mirror and shutter noise of the Hasselblad).

Back to work, and another piano person photo opportunity. Low light is where I love the D700 with 55 1.2, nice soft focus lens that helps the ladies.

Took this one just a few minutes ago in the almost darkness. Incredible what this D700 can do. 1/15th, 1.2, iso 2500 hand held. I think I might use this one for the "bokeh" challenge.
