Love the idea. Looking forward to it, particularly since I'll be in FL for the last 5 days of the challenge. Now if I can only get my family to understand why I'm editing instead of visiting.... LOL

things go very fast unless you are familiar with lightroom.

Watch your tutorials with two windows open, and remember the PAUSE button is your friend

I actually use a Firefox Plug-in called "DownloadHelper" that allows me to grab and save the video file from YouTube. From there I can open it in a separate video only window and do something similar. It also helps me build a little video library for watching on the plane when I travel and don't have/want to pay for Wifi.

i have purchased lightroom. I have seen a couple of tutorials by j. Kost many times, things go very fast unless you are familiar with lightroom. I watched other lightroom tutorials (b&h and kelby) many different opinions on how the different operations should be used.

They do that ron... but the good thing with the Vids is that I can pause and go over to LR and try it.. going back if I need to refresh Me!

Anyone know how to export it from LR after it's done? Doesn't export as normal

Thnaks

If you're in Print mode, change the "Print To" option to "JPEG File" and instead of sending it to the printer it will create a JPEG file. This is very handy when preparing a contact sheet.

If it's specific to the method then I suppose the blog would be a good place.

Thanks Dave.. I accidentily stumbled on to my answer.. so all set for now. My issues now are manipulating PS for some other effects on my triptyk. Your method, very clear and works perfect. Thank You!

Ok, dave had suggested if anyone found another useful link to throw it up on the forum... so here we go!

Triptych from just one photo - HD Photoshop Week 34 - YouTube

It is a Gavin Hoey Video titled "Triptych from just one photo - HD Photoshop Week 34"

I followed along and then did one up... It worked pretty slick... The Image is below... please note "It is NOT in the contest" as the actual photo was taken last month.

Triptych Horsehoe Pond.jpg

I have ZERO PS experience before last night and I have made a Triptych to this video and also to Dave's Blog Post. (I have not posted that as an example as I may use it once I fine tune it...)

If I can do it, anyone can! Have fun!!!

That's awesome, Pat. For someone who's never used PS to produce a triptych as nice as this one is fantastic. Knowing how to navigate in PS will come in very handy in the future.

Dave, thank you! I appreciate the kind words... Key really is the fact you guys created the challenge or I never would have even tried it. Then kudo's to you for the links (I followed every one today) and your post on how to produce one in PS. I followed that and it worked exactly as you layed it out! ( I made a few mistakes but went back tried again) I actually got one from that and then this one came next after the video I sent the link to. Yours and these instructions made it reasonably easy to work through it.

Now I need to go out find some more pictures to use!! :) Thanks for your help in providing us tools!

I found the same Video and did the same thing. Good thing I did the idea I had didn't look right with an older photo I used. So found another and it turned out great. Now I have an idea on what I'm going to do, just wanting for some new gear to come in from Amazon thanks to the Nikonites for completing my 365 project to do the shoot.

I see you played with the drop shadow, this is not exactly to Gavin's video. Glad to see you experimenting.

Although the video is based on a single image, you can still use three different photos and get the same effect.

If your really feeling frisky, you can adjust the middle to a larger box, but this will also mean you're going to have to adjust your canvas size too to accommodate the changes.

Gavin did have a drop shadow/border in the VId (about 7:20 in) I did expand a bit on what he did and I liked my effect. (Glad that others did too...) Experimenting is fun!!!

Absolutely, great point. I should have mentioned that also so thank you! (I was probably just amazed I made one!)

Good Idea!! I have another plan for something like that but never thought of it in this format... I may play with that idea on this later... Thank You for the idea... idea exchange is one of the best things here Rick!

So what gear you got coming from Amazon??? ;)

Ok, again... this is a NOT FOR JUDGING as the pictures used were prior to the contest...

Just a sample to hopefully fuel some ideas for people... This one is tied to the link Dave provided in the first post, to use Lightroom.

Lightroom Triptych custom package - YouTube (Vid by Helen Bradley...)

This sample used 3 different pictures and it was assembled in Lightroom per the Video (mostly) along with a tweak suggested by Ricke (axeman). I then moved it to PS for a couple items I wanted to add..

snow triptych.jpg

This will be the last of my sample practice units as I learn to create them in LR & PS. It is not that hard and I hope we get a lot of participation ... I will have at least 2 official entries and depending on what I get to shoot, maybe even a 3rd...

Thanks again to Dave W for the tools to help me get started... Now I have to go find the pictures that will impress the Judges! :)
