Camera straps - again

I have been reading reviews for the past week and cannot make up my mind on a suitable camera strap for my D800. I cannot use the Nikon neck strap and need to look at something like the Black Rapid but a bit concerned about loosing my tripod mount.

I would appreciate input from the forum members before making a decision.

interesting system, but I agree with you, I would find the use of the tripod connector a real pain, I switch back and forth between hand carry and tripod all the time, and its not the putting on an off, its having to carry the other quick release mount for my tripod, maybe, I guess, I would get in the habit of leaving a quick release mount on my tripod.

I like straps that have a bit of a stretch, and ones that have no quick release or swivel built in. After two occasions of strap failure, I want simple low risk designs.

I use a BR Sport strap... since I have a manfrotto tripod plate I use the BR FastenR Tripod (FR-T1). The build quality is very good. I've heard some complaints of integration with the manfrotto plate and fastenR but I haven't experienced any problems.

Ok decided, going with the BR sport strap and the Bostail. Anything should be better than the Nikon neck strap.

I remember that with the bosstail... 2 questions if you don't mind...

Did you look atthe Bosstrap straps???

With the metal ring on the bosstail, does it interfere or mark your camera (or potential of ) when you are not wearing the strap or remove it for example tripod worK?

Thanks

I looked at the BosStraps but personally prefer the look of the BlackRapid, unfortunately there is no reseller here in Dubai so I have to work with reviews.

It appears that the metal ring is quite a distance from the camera so shouldn't pose any problem. Perhaps stumprat can clarify.

I've some friends who swear by UPstrap so I went ahead and bought one mostly because it keeps the camera from slipping when it's on your shoulder. I don't know if it's the best strap available but it does a great job hanging on to your shoulder. But looking back on it I should have bought the quick release kind. A strap on your camera can be a pain in the @%$ when you're doing much tripod work.

I also went this route and like the setup. I looked at the BOSSTRAP straps and liked the look of the BR more. I havent had any issue with the ring tapping/marking up the camera but I've only had the set up for about 2 weeks. Will keep an eye on it though.

Ok I dropped the Bostail and went with the OP/TECH utility loop connector instead.

Should be here in Dubai before next weekend :D

Panzer ... Curious how that strap (BR) with bosstail is working out now that you have had it a while??

I am close to pulling the trigger (this week)

I love my Blackrapid strap. I use a Bosstail from Bosstrap.
Frees up the tripod mount.
Solved my problem.

That would solve my problem with removing the strap every time I mount on a tripod. I would change the way it hangs though. Does it still feel natural to gram the camera while it is hanging around your neck/shoulder ?
