I'm using the Cotton Carrier with my BlackRapid mount. Works great!

Ok, what strap are you using it with?? Black Rapid RS7 or another???

another. less expensive clone of the Black Rapid RS7. I have had it about 18 months now and have had 0 problems with it. No plastic and the tripod mount is all metal. I paid less than $20 for it. There is an old thread about the two different straps and a number of people were bashing it saying it would fail. There is nothing to fail about it. The only modification I made to it was to sew the ends together so it would not be adjustable and the clip can not slip. It never had slipped but I don't like those types of adjustments.

Panzer ... Curious how that strap (BR) with bosstail is working out now that you have had it a while??

I am close to pulling the trigger (this week)

Love it!
The combo allows easy connect / disconnect of the strap. The bosstail is out of the way with the BR removed. Which i do a lot of when using the tripod. Shows zero wear/tear and I am not a gentle person.

Would highly recommend it.

Mine should be here in a week or so. Looking forward to trying it. I am shooting a lot more with the tripod lately. HDR and testing all the different features of the D5100.

Well my BosTail Mounting Strap came in While I was out of town this weekend. I have it mounted on my camera strap now. It does make the camera hang different since it hangs from the left side strap lug. The original was from the tripod mount. The tripod mount way made it fit your hand very nicely when hanging at your side. The left side lug is not quite as nice. I will go out shooting with it this week and will probably get used to it. We will see. Will try to remember to report back after a longer test.

Thanks Don... mine is ordered... along with an RS-7 strap.. I wondered about the hang difference also but my edge may be I have not experienced the "bottom" mount, so I dod not have to adjust ...

I've been meaning to get a solution like this for a while and thankfully I saw a demo of the Black Rapid Yeti by B&H at the Kelby seminar last week. An adapted version of the Sport it allows for the mounting of a second camera or the under-arm stabilizing strap (when a second camera is attached the stability strap can be added under the opposite arm). Perfect solution for me since I'm often walking about with 2 cameras. Speaking to another photographer there he said that he does sports with a long lens mounted to the other strap via the tripod mounting arm and can swap lenses on a single camera much faster, but that still leaves you having to put the smaller lens somewhere ... unless both lenses have a tripod mount and the camera is free.

Anyway, I should have it tomorrow ... the day after my D600 goes back to Nikon (figures).

And someone explain to me why B&H Credits for previous purchases always come through the day after you order something from Amazon. LOL

I think it will work out. better that you can put it on the tripod with the strap still on it. I have had the tripod in places where I would have preferred that the camera was still attached to me. Safer

OK campers, I had a chance to go out and test the BosTail setup today. Went for a long walk in the park. I was easy to get used to the different way it hangs by your side. I give the tripod mounted version a 100% and the BosTail a 92% on the first day out so not to bad.

If set on the left side it hangs with the shutter button side slightly down but not so much that your hand can not find and grab it easily. I have mine set so that my arm is fully extended hanging naturally by my side and the hand grip is at a comfortable level. What I had not remembered (because I had never really paid attention) is that I generally have my hand on the camera anyway but the strap is holding the weight so not tiring.

Alright class, any questions?
