Yes, IBIS is a very nice feature. Too bad it hasn't migrated to Nikon DX yet.

    Awesome, Roy.

As much as I love the many features of the D500, I have been contemplating a mirrorless camera for a while. I like the beefy camera body of the D500 and the back-lit buttons, but some of the images I see from the mirrorless systems and the fact DSLR is on its way out makes me think I should consider a trade. Won't be for a while though, I have too many house expenses right now.

Still keeping my D500 it will be nailed to the 60-600 now, my D7000 is still on the 50-500.
Congrats Roy, I think you will be pleased. The Z cameras are amazing. Steve Perry has a good digital book on the focus system that you might want to check out. It is very thorough but he does a good job with it. I am anxious to hear what you think.

Well it finally came, first impressions was its small and light (without the battery grip). Liking the "what you see is what you get " feature, i haven't tried the IBIS yet. Took a few test shots with it, like it so far. I have to get everything set up, i set the basic's and started shooting, really quiet shutter.
Still to get the battery grip and the spare battery, the one that came with it was dead, so i used my 3rd one for my D500. Hope to give it a real testing at the week end. So far so good.

Did you put it in silent photography mode? I don't think I've tried that on my Z5 yet. I like the sound of the "shutter" to let me know it actually took a picture.

tried it today, cant hear it when you are shooting outside. I thought the ordinary shutter was quiet.

I am glad you have it Roy. I have to tell you that I rarely use the silent shutter. It is almost spooky to me. Besides the normal shutter is amazingly quiet. I think you will be amazed at the IBIS. I can hand hold at unbelievably low shutter speeds. Congrats again.

    Re: Z6ii ordered.

I use the silent mode at my daughters volleyball games and when I don't want to draw attention, (which is most of the time). It also works great at minimizing shutter shake on long exposures. Keep in mind that a flash wont fire in silent mode and it's got to be set to 5 fps or slower. At least that's how it works on the Z6, not sure if that carries through to the Z6ii. I wont lie, there's been several times that I'm using silent mode and extended high shutter mode thinking the camera isn't taking any pictures only to look at the playback and seeing 30 of the same shot! It's nearly inaudible. Not like the "quiet" mode in DSLR's, which is just silly and not at all quiet.
