I need an 18-200mm lens

I have the 18-55, and the 55-200mm Nikon VR lens.
Today was the last straw. I must have changed lenses 7 times in a 2 hour period.

I was looking at the Tamron online earlier. Does anyone have this lens and don't hate it?
How bout the Nikon 18-200? Is it worth the extra money?

Everything I've read (and I don't trust writers) says the Nikon 18-200 is a great lens to replace the 18-55 and 55-200. Quality of the results is the same with all 3 lenses, so whether it's "worth it" is up to you. I have the 18-55VRII and the 55-200VR. I don't plan on buying anything to replace them. Since I'm retired, I have plenty of time to change lenses, and sometmes even drop them down ravines.

As long as the quality is the same with the Nikon 18-200 as with the other 2 kit lenses, that's all I need. I've been reading more about the Tamron and it's not looking good.

Some people don't like him, but he seems to be pretty consistant to me.

Nikon 18-200mm

If I was going to buy an all-in-one lens, and I was thinking about the 18-200, I'd save more coin for the Nikon 18-300VR and just get it over with.

Don't buy another lens - buy another camera body... :) :encouragement::encouragement::encouragement:

I have the 18-200 Tamron and the 18-200 Nikon.
I originally bought the 18-200 to go on the D5100 for my wife. It did a pretty good job but not supper sharp. When she moved up to the D7000 that lens could not handle it and looked just awful. I then put the 18-105 on the D7000 for her and the quality was so much better but she really missed the extra reach so I bought her the 18-200 and I am happy with the quality and she is happy with the reach.

Don't waste your money on the Tamron unless you pick up a second hand copy for cheap.

Granted the 18-200 Tamron may require a bit of post cleaning. Here are a couple I took yesterday that I find pretty good. IMHO.
These are just converted to JPEGs and posted. I have posted some of these after a little editing. I really like my Tamron. And I really like being able to go macro to 200mm without swapping lenses. Not saying I wouldn't mind sharper glass of course!
