I love night shots. One of these days I'll upgrade to a camera that handles them well. The D80 sure doesn't. You can forget high ISOs.
Here's some of my meager attempts.
This was an attempt to capture that last bit of twilight. Using the outdoor lamp in the shot gave me a good contrast and added a touch of interest (otherwise it would have just been a dark, boring sky) but it also made the exposure a tad more challenging.
This was a simple exercise in getting the right white balance.
This scene grabbed my attention while driving over a bridge one evening. I couldn't resist the way the lights and tracks faded into the darkness.
As an experiment I went back the next evening and tried a shot just after dusk. The sun had set but there was still a twilight visible in the background. It just didn't work as well as this night shot.
