Duplicate images on SD card

hi, I've somehow managed to take a lot of images over the images on my SD card?? When I download to iPhoto I'm asked "would you like to import the following duplicate photo"
The image quality on the camera is 4Meg, but when imported is a really poor quality when I view in iPhoto (I assume because two images in one position on the SD card)
The video I have taken won't import into iPhoto either

any ideas?

Are you talking about duplicate image file, as in: dsc-001 & dsc-001(2)? Or, are you talking about the exact same image, but with different file number?
