I am a newbie to raw photo processing, and I am going to try and learn how to use an open source program called "Darktable".
My desktop runs Fedora linux.

First attempt is with my D7100. I had it on dot metering for camera jpeg and it over exposed the scene in bright sun. First photo is the camera jpeg. The second is processing of the raw file.

And then some darktable

I love blue sky.. One more simple one with the D7100. camera jpeg, and then darktable. The lens is a sigma 17-50mm hsm, so I also get len correction in the workflow which I don't in a nikon camera jpeg.

Yes, it is a matter of personal taste. I like the one after tone adj. Also, I had always experienced poor white balance from camera jpg and like after DT white adj. You can see your image's sky color become more pleasing blue, but still retaining red hue rays in the upper area.

I'm probably in the wrong section! (365). Not going to be able to post every day!
This is a statue on our mantle up close with the macro lens. Don't mess with him.

Would you like your thread to be moved to the regular 365 section?
