Brutal honesty time...only because I know what you're capable of, EoI:

I was disappointed when I clicked on this. Not that I was expecting to see more skin (because I wasn't) but because you have an awesome model here and she's sitting on a railing with her hands folded in her lap. This lady is working the goth/retro look, and is practically screaming to be posed old-school pinup calendar style.

Do a Google image search for "retro pinups" and you'll see what I mean.

On technical merits, this is a good photo. Your lighting is good, depth of field is good, etc. But this lacks the creativity I've seen in your other works.

Beautiful model! Here's what i absolutely love about the photo: excellent bokeh, model's face looks like porcelain (I'd kill to have skin like that . . . sigh). . . nice lighting on the face, lots of emphasis on the eyes. Hairdo is great. . . very 1940-ish.

I know that "pin-up" is a particular style, so this is a good shot, especially since it accentuates her curves.

My "adjustment recommendations" have more to do with the posing than the actual photo techniques. Model does not appear comfortable. There's a little bit of a double chin because her head appears to be tilting down just a tad. The necklace and the bodice front of her outfit are a little "busy". I would get rid of the necklace or use an outfit that doesn't have the big closures on the front. I would think that something more of a 1940's look (to match the hair-do) would be more appropriate. Also, the hands with interlaced fingers don't appear very flattering and not in a good location (unless that was the intent).

Perhaps if she turned her upper body a little away from the camera (more of an "s-curve" ), and you shot from just a little higher angle, her eyes, cleavage and curves would be greatly accentuated.

Don't know if you wanted all of this. If she's a client and is happy, then mission accomplished. In any case, you were successful in capturing her sensuality!

IMHO

Technically I think it's a great photo. All the required elements are in place; lighting, great bokeh, model beauty, etc. Artistically......I don't know. Too many clashing elements. Like Helene says, the 40-ish hairstyle and skin tone are great, but then it veers off to something else. And she does look uncomfortable to me. Maybe she's nervous. :) Perhaps a different pose and angle of the shot would have done it for me. Just my 2 cents worth.

Here are the un-cooked images in a gallery - remember, they're RAW, so no color, lighting, NOTHING done to these images. Not for comment or critique, just showing you "the rest of the story" - in a slideshow gallery format. How about the three of you choose one image each for me to work on, and I'll present the final images here??

7, 8, and 43 are my favorites. It's hard to pick just one...but I'll pick #8. Love the snarl and the gun! That one belongs on a war bonds poster!

I would go with #8 & 9 as well, I think its all about attitude and she seems to bring that across in those two shots. Just my 2cents…lol.

In order of preference (with the idea of "pin-up") --48, 7, 11 (love the pose and the shoes in this one)

To my mind, the essence of "pinup" was illustrated in #7, #12 and #46.....with my favourite being #7. All nice shots, though. It was hard to pick just the three. I liked a lot of them. :)
