Well my friends, I'm both excited and scared. As soon as next month I may be signing a 1 year lease on my very first appartment! So I'm praying that I don't make any mistakes in this, because I will be stuck with it for at least the next year.
I am impatient to get started in moving in, since it will take a pretty long time getting it all moved and put away. But I know I will be home sick for my home here, full of memories of my wife everywhere I look. But staying here isn't an option for very long, and I don't want to be evicted and rushed to move with nowhere planned to go.

The appartment I found is a two bedroom, and so I will be able to setup my studio in the spare room. I won't be left with much money every month, but it would be that way here too if I stayed. There are some more upsides, that make it an attractive choice of an appartment. First it has a heat pump, so I will be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Second the exlectricity is less on average by quite a little bit than it is here! Third water is free! Fourth is it is close to here, so I won't have to learn my way around a new area! Lastly I only have one neighbor built in the building in this duplex, where as here I have one on each side with just a wall between each of them and me! :)

The appartment is smaller by far than my home here, but I admit I don't really need so much room anyway. My home here is heated by fuel oil, and even if I could stay I couldn't afford the fuel oil and would get pretty cold next winter.

I imagine this is boring to alot of you, having likely done this many times. But for me this is a very big change.

Before I move I need to sell something to get the cash to buy a microwave, since I use one pretty much daily and mine is close to being shot. I'm going to try avoiding selling our wedding rings, but it may come down to that if I don't find something better soon.:(

Well I will try to update this thread as new things happen my friends, so you'll know how I'm doing! I'll even eventually post photos of the appartment that I hope will soon feel like home to me.:)

The only jewlery I have that I might end up selling is a gold band or two. The silver rings won't net much money, so I doubt I'll bother with those.

I already sold the one ring with diamonds to help me come up with the security deposite, and pay a few bills.

I'm just selling to a pawn shop, and so it needs to be easy to sell and worth a couple hundered from them.

Today was a really good day despite the pain. I was invited to a birthday dinner from my friend for his wife, also a very good friend. So I brought over a few presents things that were once my wife's and Robin loved them. As we talked and I told her about the appartment saving me from becoming homeless, she said looking me in the eyes that I wouldn't have been homeless. My friends Greg and Robin who were best man and bride's maid at my wedding, wouldn't let me ending up being homeless. They are treating me like family, and have been good to me since we first met in 2010.
It was such a wonderful warm feeling hearing her say that, and I feel blessed to have them as my dear friends. Robin told me I don't need an invitation for dinner as I am always welcome. :)

Anyway it was a very good day because of them.:)

Well today was a big day for me, and not as smooth emotional as I thought it would be. I went ahead and paid the security deposit on my new appartment, making a firm decision that this is the appartment I will be renting. Everything was going as planned and I went to my credit union to stop the auto pay on my wife's and my home. It was then out of the blue that grief struck me as a photo of my beloved wife appeared on the screen. Tears flowed embarressing me, though I was able to keep quiet. Seeing my love's photo surprised me filling me full of loss.
But The lady was sweet an understanding handing me tissues, and getting the payment stopped from being taken automatically from my account was done without any real problems. That an they seemed fine with my moving an only asked that I write a letter saying why I was leaving the house, and leave that letter and the keys at the credit union after I am done moving my things out.

It has been a long day for me, but it went ok all in all. But I am now commited to moving, and I hope I don't forget doing anything important since there are no do overs.:)

Hey Bill, I feel for you in this difficult time. It's not for me to say as I'm a stranger to you, but I'm sure your wife will be looking down on you wanting only for you to be happy. My opinion is also that you really shouldn't sell the wedding rings - some things can't be replaced. Take care and good luck with the move, it sounds very positive and exciting.

Thank you. :) I'm trying not to sell our wedding rings, an have sold other rings so far. I have a couple things this year that I'm going to need money to pay, like licience renewal, tags renewal, and taxes on my truck all due in August. But my current figures leave me no way to pay those out of my monthly income. So I am trying to figure out what I need to sell get me through those.
I am leaning towards selling my 357 lever action marlin rifle, but it will leave me without a gun for home protection.

Money will be real tight until my truck is paid off in about three years.

Now that my decision has been made, I'm just dying to start moving in. Lol I can do some things here to get ready, but not too much or the stuff will clog things up here making it really hard to move the big things that have to go first.
I've been trying to decide when I should move my bed over there and start sleeping in my new appartment, once I can start moving in. I'm thinking I will as soon as my photography gear is moved over there, though I need the furniture and appliances moved before I move too much other stuff or the appartment might get clogged up.

It is such a small appartment I'm sorta surprised the previous renters were a couple and a child, and the rooms a pretty small making a full or queen bed a pretty tight fit! Lol :) They decided to move to be closer to the child's new school, middle school I think.

I'm taking the stove, fridge, washer, dryer, smallish corner china hutch, one or two dressers, twin size bed, a table, and two recliners. Which is a lot for this size appartment, and which is why most of the big stuff needs to be moved first. Oh and I need to buy a big microwave since it is one of the most used ways of heating up everthing. I plan to buy a maytag since my washer, dryer and fridge are all maytag, and the have held up wonderfully!:) If I'm lucky I'll be able to mount the microwave above the stove saving precious space.)
