I was only 10 years old when Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated. I was not exactly worldly at that point but I did see greatness in the man. I have spent nearly my entire life in the south to deep south and the one thing more than anything else that MLK preached was that if black people in this country wanted to be given the respect they deserved, they had to EARN it. They had to prove that they were worthy of that respect. 23 years in the US Army taught me that respect is something that is earned and not granted.
And then in an instant MLK is gone. And who steps in? Jesse Jackass. He and the likes of Al Sharpton have spent the last 46 years doing everything they can to completely UNDO everything MLK gave his life for. And places like Ferguson is a perfect example. The "reverends" have so brainwashed black people in this country to believe that ALL of their problems are "whitey's" fault when quite the opposite is true. I call it "willful blindness". Here is a newsflash for you, THE WORLD DOES NOT OWE YOU A DAMN THING. Especially for something that ended A CENTURY AND A HALF AGO. You get what you earn. This Michael Brown guy, just like Trayvon Martin, were THUGS. They already had a criminal past at the time of their deaths. You hate to have negative expectations of a person, especially one you do not know, but had they not died when they did, it is an all too common occurrence that both of them would have eventually become incarcerated, and probably for something pretty serious.
What is the answer to solve the problems in Ferguson? Who knows. But before any solution will work, first they have to undo nearly half a century of brainwashing and sense of entitlement.
