My name is Kathryn - and i am from the GRAND state of TEXAS!!! If you couldn't tell by the salutation...lol...

I am very new to NIKON's...photography etc...I was using a Canon sure shot - worked for what it was being used for - point and shoot - taking endless pics of the dogs -

For my 2010 Xmas gift from boyfriend(bf) - i got a NIKON D3100 - he had originally got for me the D3000 - but when we/he realized it did NOT have video - we returned to WorstBuy and upgraded to the D3100!!! woooohoooo!!! luv this camera...sooo many things still to learn tho!!! can't wait to learn all the ins & outs of the camera and of photography!!! looking forward to getting advice from you guys!!!

thanks

Well howdy, ma'am. ;) Welcome to Nikonites. If you could fill out your profile a little more..........camera used, lenses, etc., it would make it much easier for us to help you in any future questions you may have.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, and there will always be someone to help you along the way. Looking forward to seeing some of your work. Happy clicking! :)

Hi, Kathryn, and welcome to the forum from a neighbor in New Mexico. Looking forward to photos with your new camera . . . congratulations!

BTW, is "worstbuy" a new chain of stores?

Best Regards

There is a best buy in one of the more 'affluent' parts of Indianapolis.
A computer store I used to shop at waited nearly 5 years for the billboard next to the store to become available.
Once it did, they put up a sign with their address that simply stated 'Are you SURE you are getting the BEST buy?
That advertising did wonders for their store!

Welcome to the forum Kathryn. Read your manual cover to cover , there are a lot of great videos out there that will help you as well, blue crane comes to mind. But most of all get out there and shoot as much as possible, nothing like hands on experience, shoot, shoot, shootJ.

Hello Kathryn, welcome to Nikonites, hope you find it a great place to hang out, learn and contribute.

Always great to see neighbors joining up! I live in the Grand state for many years and still spend lots of time in Texas.
