I have to disagree. Yes, Japan made junk in the 50's, but they learned how to make good quality merchandise. Look at the quality of their motorbikes, cars, electronics, and yes even cameras and lenses today. However, what Japan had, which China does not have, is the workers have some basic freedoms and an incentive to produce good products. However, under communism, the workers are basically slaves with no incentive to improve their products. Look at the Chinese produced pet food, which recently poisoned many pets? How about the wood flooring the Chinese produced for Lumber Liquidators? Look at their farm raised talipia where they suspend chicken coops over the ponds so the fish can eat the chicken droppings? In fact, can you name one quality product from a communist country? Certainly not the Yugo from Yugoslavia! No, if you want to buy Chinese made junk lenses, it is your right. But it is also my right to avoid supporting China whenever possible (which unfortunately if becoming more difficult daily).
