I am a Remodeling Contractor, and getting pretty busy, with that, and family health issues, I have not been on the board as much. I still lurk a little, but don't have the time I used to. A good/bad thing, I guess.

I really enjoy this thread. Very interesting, and great photos! I can really see the growth in various photographers in the photos they post.

Thanks for posting your photos, I always enjoy them. The butterfly photo is beautiful, and very pleasant to view.

Shot this one afternoon just to play with the in-camera HDR feature/settings and liked how it ended up turning out. As I'm pretty new to photography, any constructive criticism is welcomed.

D5100, VR 55-300mm F/4.5-5.6G @ 55mm, ISO 100, F/8, 1/400, manual focus, +0.7 exp. comp.
In-camera HDR settings: 3EV with Low smoothing
Post processing was done in ViewNX 2

Hello Willy! I haven't tried any in-camera HDR yet, so I have a question. Since you are using in-camera HDR, what post processing was required?

Hi Dave. On this one I just made a few, small adjustments in ViewNX...played with the brightness, contrast and color as well as boosted the sharpness a bit. I don't know if it's the fact that the camera only uses two images or the grayness of the day, but the original was much more muted looking. I have a feeling it was a combination of both factors.

Playing around with our new camera. I have enjoyed reading and learning from the members here so I figured I'd share a photo I thought turned out ok. ISO was pretty high at 1600 (set to Auto) using the 55-200 at 175mm. 1/800, F/5.3. Matrix metering, no exposure comp. It was a pretty overcast day and a little more contrast in the fur might have been nice but all in all I'm happy.
