I originally had an exposure issue with the YN-468 II, 80% of the images were overexposed using i-TTL with my D5100. I finally tracked it down to the fact that my metering was set in 'Matrix', and got much better results with either 'Spot' or 'Center Weighted'.
Note that I did not have these issues with a borrowed SB-600, so I believe that there is either something up with the Yongnuo implementation of the i-TTL protocol, or the flash splash pattern is not uniform enough. (The exposure issue seemed to be minimized when I bounced the flash.)
In any case, after changing the metering mode, I went from wanting to return the YN-468 to wishing it had more reach.
Bottom line is that with the Yongnou you have to do a bit more tinkering to get it to work, and you will always have a lingering worry about quality (will the battery door fall off?). With Nikon, it will work out the box and last forever. But for 1/3 to 1/2 the price I felt it was worth the risk for the amount of use the flash will get. In addition, when, and if, I finally upgrade to the Nikon flash, I will have a nice slave.
I bought my flash from gaingame-outlet for ~$80, and I had no issues with their service, or delivery schedule (ships from NJ).
