Hey Mai I can associate with that feeling of wanting to chuck the 365 thing in. It is real hard sometimes but please don't as your photos are lovely and very motivational. I just spent some time catching up.

I sure hope you don't quit, because you have a style that is so uniquely you! I love quite a bit of your work my friend! And lord knows you have absolutely beautiful dogs, that we can always stand seeing more of! Lol ;)
Besides, as was already said I believe, your creative work inspires a lot of us! :D

Hey. Its been a while, Im sorry. The course where unbelievable, and I have learned so much but its hard to get it to "sink in".. its very summerish here now and I am melting away in the heat. Been keeping myself busy but have done pictures everyday. I did think about stopping this 365 as its hard for me to get the computer opened in the evenings - but I got all the images so..

Lots to come now.

Re: Wud's project 365

Thank you SO much for your kind words. I do think its still good I am doing it, even though some days are busy and the mobile are my best friend. I feel I really get to work on my style. And I'm finally starting to understand I am just a two person kind of girl, lol - I love doing happy shootings for others and do dark and black for myself. Very lucky to actually be able to do both.

Sold an image - the girl with wet hair, I guess I sold a bit on the cheap side, he said yes fine VERY fast lol. But thats okay, just happy someone wants it hanging in their home :-D

And I am starting a project - doesn't have a name yet - but I found 4 already who said yes. I am going to place them in their couch with stuff around them, its kind of about a hobby or maybe there is a better word, but so far its:

girl who got a dog, does a lot of competitions and got a BUNCH of medals/trophies
boy who collects shoes, same brand, I think he got around 100-150 pairs (he wears most of them but some are so special, I dont think he wears them)
girl who is obsessed with a boyband and who travels all around the world to concerts, she got a ton of merchandise
boy who collects japanese toys

Actually all of them are at the moment single, but thats maybe pushing it to far, calling the series that...... I dont want to make "fun" of them.

And back to images:

Day 191, july 11

Playing with ND filters

nd3_9914_web.jpg
nd3_9928_web.jpg

Also tried the Matt Molloy technique (60 images on tripod, layered in Photoshop)

Day 192, july 12

Went to find something to shoot but really didn't feel any when I was there. Street photography annoys me (doing, not watching others) because I hate the busy backgrounds....

Day 193, july 13

A facade I really liked.
Had a nice long quiet walk with my darling dog, he stopped and looked through the doors in every restaurant and every shoe-shop lol..

Day 194, july 14

Concert shooting - Inner Circle :-D

Ah, there is the dark and mysterious landscapes that i so adore. Keep up the good work Mai. How are your dog books working out? I think your new project could be quite appealing to the participants. People love to show off their obsessions.

Mai your project is similar to "Environmental portraiture" where the supporting information (for example the shoes) in the photo tells us something about the person.
So "hobby Portraiture" but i am sure you can think of a catchier name.
Looking forward to seeing them all.

I really love this shot. Just curious, was the person moving a willing or an unsuspecting participant?

You have me thinking now about what I might be able to do with an ND filter on at the Farmer's Market this weekend. I don't necessarily want to drag out a tripod, but it could be cool. Thanks for the inspiration.

Not going good at all. Too hot and very much very hard to figure out how and why and what for me at the moment.

Lol that wasn't helpful at all

As you can probably tell, I am working on doing these blurred images of strangers passing by (I don't think she noticed me but others did but didn't care), I did a few and some of them where okay but I think the background is TO busy here. But the previous shot (people going up and down with the white walls) were to simple.. think I need something in between.

I don't believe it's too busy. If anything I believe you might have too much foreground (using a 2:3 ratio, crop up from the bottom right until the right 1/3 line matches the building edge - I like that better). But I like how you lose certain parts of the woman into the background, with only her hand and feet being somewhat discernible.

True! Way to much foreground which doesn't add any at all to the image. I'll defiantly keep foreground in mind next time I browse for a place to shoot. Thanks :-D

What annoys me the most, is the text on the restaurant and the big sign. Ill see if I can find a place where I can place myself so text wont be showing.

My idea was to use different shutter speeds, some like above and some faster, but all clearly with a long shutter time. And then - when I find the right place - I'll hopefully figure out if I should make 10-15 images at the same place, or if I should do them all (more or less) different places.
