I am still liking the b&w's best. Still think you could do a book of dogs. Perhaps the owners could subscribe to it.

I really like the first B&W. Except maybe needs a little more separation of the dog from the environment. In Lightroom, I would darken the color of the grass around the dog, so the dog would be more prominent. And I like the second one, lovely portrait!

Subscripe?
I was thinking, if I had it done, people should pre-order, is that what you mean?
Im not sure how to do with the pictures I already got and would like to use, just inform the owners? I am not going to offer them a book, that would be way to expensive. I won't be earning a lot but that doesn't matter.

I think you are right, thanks :)

One of the most iconic series of American Photos ever produced was Curtis's Study of native Americans. The book was wholly funded from subscriptions from wealthy Americans. Anyone who wanted to have their dog in your book would agree to purchase at least one copy, maybe more. There are online publishers who could produce the books for you and arrange their delivery to the customers. One or two of these publications could put you on the road to success. Then expand outward: a book of just show winners from a dog show, or a book devoted to one breed for people who champion that breed. Do you see the possibilities? Once you get a reputation for great photography you could expand to a book of your landscapes or anything else that you might take an interest in. I will subscribe to your landscape book right now.

I whole heartedly agree with this. The one industry that will always stay strong is the pet industry. A dog book as your first venture would be a relatively safe area to jump into. It also is one of your strong suits. (Still waiting on puppies by the way)

Send the collie images to the owner, so you cannot come with anymore suggestions for edits lol. But did as randyspann wrote and it looked good.

Mai, your dog photos are outstanding as always! For the merle Collie photos taken outside, did you use any fill flash? The EXIF data doesn't specify whether flash is used. Thanks for any info! :)

Ver nice Mai. The warm light really does evoke a feeling of summer. And I think your puppies must love you very much. They always pose so well.

What you dont see, are the previous 7 images where they were looking all other directions, lol. They knew I didn't have sausage in my pocket.. way to clever.

No flash, I actually never use flash - only for indoors, where I can use it with an umbrella and stand. I really, really do not understand how to work with flash, even though I got tons of advice, links to sites (which I read) and actually have been practicing.........

I dream of the Ice Light. I find lamps so much easier to work with, and perfectly soft for what I like to do.

As for the images, they were pretty good exposed almost everyone, the one with sun through the tree I had to up the shadows afterwards - a flash would be good there but it was hard enough getting the sun AND the dog right, at the same time.

But normally I give a quick 10-20% soft dodge brush over (some of) the face of the dog in Photoshop, just before I resize for web. Really makes a difference, although its hard to see if you don't know it.

Day 110, 93 year old! My husbands grandmom. She is completely fresh in her head but having problems walking, her body is old - but no way she will ever get a wheelchair lol.

Day 111, soft blur effect done with a bag around the lens (as Scott taught me)

Mai, your husband's grandmother sounds just like my partners mother, who is also in her 90's, also pretty sharp mentally but having mobility problems. She is now housebound as she cannot walk much more than around her little unit. I offered to get her a wheelchair and take her out shopping etc........ No way!! :D

That is a lovely portrait.

So thankful when people have older family around that are still sharp and their minds active. I can accept that my body will eventually wear out, as long as my mind stays fresh within it. I have trouble contemplating the other way around.
