On hot summer days we would decide to hop in the car and go get ice cream. At the mention of ice cream ou last dog would immediately start panting and invite herself along. She would pant all the way to the store where we would buy her a small cup of ice cream, after which she would curl up in the back seat and go to sleep, perfectly content. Puppies like treats too you know.

Not what I was going for - then it would just be a normal portrait, I think..
Btw, black dogs with black background are hard to shoot in studio....
Starting in school in 1 hour! (Graphic technician, hoping to work with photographic prints)!

I have three black dogs and they are hard to shoot anywhere. Black dogs in a black studio must have been challenging at best. Good job.
Day 94, 3 out of 4 dogs I had in studio today - what do you think?
(I know the last one looks a bit grumpy, I got a better one similar)

I found loosing to many details, when exposing properly. So decided to over-expose which I kind of regretted when coming home and realizing, the last dog is a black dog with red tone - so it looked brown on some of the images. I converted it to b/w, made a mask and with a brush on 20% I painted some color back on eyes, nose, and around the fur to get a warmer tone than grey.
I should have known as my dogs are what you call diluted red - my oldest has a red tone in the right light (my youngest actually looks more blue) and if you dye your hair black, you can also choose between red or blue tint. Lesson learned, I think next time I will actually use white as a background, and paint it black in PP...
Also I didn't go for backlighting by choice but I did fire of some light on the background to make sure I would get details all the way around but when doing that, I found the bg to look more grey than black.

Day 95, been working on flowers for the monthly assignment - every month I think, hey, Ill join. Every month I forget..
Day 96, assignment in school - photographing some different buildings, making a layout and then trying to print it properly, yay. This is from the Police Headquarters.
Day 97, soo windy and SO hard holding the flower yourself. And yes, I brought the flower with me when walking the dogs, to get to the sun lol...

Glad you like it Took several days before I figured out, what to do with it. Haha I already cleaned their sensors for them.... The girl got a Canon 5D II, I really want to try it some day, as I remember, those 5D got a subtle but great looking 'matte' kind of effect.

Day 101, cat. He does not know, I just visited 2 days old kittens... cutest ever!

Playing with wide angle, dogs, shadows, b&w.
This could be fun doing more of (having a helper though, it was pretty difficult getting the dogs to do different faces while concentrating on the camera too).. So imaging this, just several shots, all with a different expression?
Not sure if it is better in b&w? To keep focus on the expression.
