See the little heart on the ladybirds back? Nice!! :D

Yes! We also have 1 million snails, and yes, I stop digging every time I see one, so I can move it to safety.. They better produce some work this year!

Stunning shots Wud, still really enjoying your 365

Thank you so much! Honestly, all this talking me and my husband are having about which flowers and bushes to get, to finally get our garden as we want it - all the time I am thinking, what will make the prettiest background for an image lol.

Hey so this ladybug shot, that is as close as I can get with the 105mm. I did both manual and autofocus. What will macro shooters suggest, for getting even closer?

I also flipped the camera for DX mode.

I think it's a bit hard shooting macro because I mostly do it handheld and my hand shakes, due to he weight of camera and lens (i find places to balance of course - my knee, a tree and so on) but have no idea if macro extensions weigh anything?

I also have lots of trouble with camera shake ( I do ALL my macro hand held too. I find insects do not hang around long enough to faff about with tripods, reflectors etc) I have a 105mm macro lens too and would like to get in closer. I've got extension tubes (and they are very light) but have not yet seriously tried them out with my 105mm lens.

If I get a chance later today I'll get them out and take some shots with the 3 different tubes so you can see what effect they have. Just hope I can get "in focus" shots :D

I see you got up to f45 with that ladybird. You are using flash? I use flash but it's not HSS (High shutter speed) capable so can only get 1/320 shutter speed. I think HSS would make a big impact on image shake issues

Deezey, yeah :) Right behind me there is the same water and well, not bridge, it's were the metro runs, but water there was moving.

Vixen that would be awesome! Would love to see.

No I didn't use flash, I just turned up the iso a bit. It was direct sunshine, you can also see I have a burned out spot, maybe I should have created a shade but on some of the first shots, the ladybird were opening it's wings so I thought it was going to fly off.

Plus, flash is heavy too, lol.

I didn't get a chance today but will try to set something up over the next couple of days. I'll try to do it properly, so you get a good idea, so I'll have to choose a boring non-moving subject like a coin or a button. Something really exciting :D

Of course, no worries, I'm not in a rush :-D

Btw, I think Scott uses flash. Flash ring maybe.

I use my onboard flash with a foam diffuser if you have a look through the macro thread you can find examples of this, I am about to head out (02:30am) for a walk and hope to get some macro and bird life. @Vixen if you have any questions regarding the set up both myself and @Ironwood use a similar set up. So he may also be able to help you. All my macros are at ISO 100 with 1/320 shutter speed aperture ranges from f/11 - f/22.
