Thank you guys. I am really not fit to have dog problems, my heart breaks completely. Trying to tell myself, he didn't know what happened. If its epilepsy, he'll probably not have another seizure for months, but I am praying its something else, because it was really ugly.

So far he is good. Still crossing my fingers..

Day 57, I seriously thought it was a statue at first, because it was sitting completely still..

I had a Lab that had epileptic seizures. Once they started to be more frequent than a couple of times a year, the Vet put her on phenobarbitol. She never had another seizure.

Okay this is really.. could it be?? My dog has a thing with his ear, he been looked in the ear normally by our vet twice and then he has been going to chiropractor/osteopath several times, and they more or less always found something in his scalp/chin/around the ear to fix, so obviously we thought that was the problem.

Last week I talked to his rehabilitation lady about this and she said, we should get an appointment where he would be anesthetized, because there can be something way further down/in.

I've of course been googling my behind of, to see if I could find ANYTHING which would make sense to what happened, anything else than epilepsy. (I do know its not a death sentence, but I would really love this seizure to be something easily fixed..).

And look what I found!!
(First listed a number of things, that could trigger a seizure):

  • And seeds in the ears!
Our vet in Cascade, Idaho, Keith Ruble, pulled some long, skinny, black "sticky" (barbed) plant seeds out of both of Jetta's ears. (They hadn't caused an obvious infection, just a severe irritation. One thing it lead to was some loud breathing, as though she'd gotten asthmatic.) It's a good thing he knew to look for them, especially since the thin black seeds were attached to thin black hairs! In the 6 years since he first bumped into this in vet school (with a convulsive dog that had been given every other kind of test by the stumped faculty), he's seen about a dozen cases of seizures in dogs clear up when "barbed" plant seeds (e.g., foxtails - that's just one kind) were removed from deep inside their ears. (You know why forget-me-nots are called that? - yep, their seeds stick to hair and clothes!)
...Not all vets are aware of this seeds-in-the-ear seizure connection! - and those darned seeds are everywhere. So be sure it's checked out if this happens to your animal.
Keith sees grass-seed seizures in cats and rabbits, too (though not in cows or horses, whose ears and/or head height, perhaps, don't invite the problem) - and it's even happened in humans. The ear drum is right near the brain! - so anything bumping or rubbing against it, or perforating it, could wreak havoc on the other side, sending the wrong signals to the body's power source.

(It's difficult to see the pertinent ear drum area in a dog, as the canine ear canal has an elbow-joint in it. A veterinary otoscope has a longer cone tip on it than a human one, and you have to make the dog uncomfortable to get past the "L".)

Hey, at least there's DoF in yours. Did you see mine from Tuesday?! LOL

I saw it - I think you should have called it The Happy Pic, lol..

So one of the tests today showed a low number in my dogs thyroid, its called Hypothyroidism. Or it was juuuust above - 13 is to low, my dog had 14. So they are testing some signals from his brain (I think?), we should get the answer monday or tuesday.

Liver numbers were a little bit high but that is most likely due to the pain killers he is getting.

Monday I got an appointment where they anesthetize him and take a solid look in his ears.

If its a Hypothyroidism, he'll just need to get a pill every day for the rest of his life. Well that would be better than epilepsy!

Im keeping my hopes up. He had waterwalk after the blood tests, so he is pretty beat now

Later on, I took the other dog to get the print I finally got developed, its an analog camera I got together with 2 lenses, from some friends :-D Pictures are from late summer, so I had no idea what were on it. Happy to see I managed to get all 25 frames, some a little underexposed though, not sure if I did it or if it could be a setting I haven't noticed on camera.

Thank you, Jake!

Day 59, what my test film were for, digital combined with analog. The image of the silhouette is from today, and then I merged it with 2 of the analog (scanned it first, of course).

You need to get one of the pups to howl. Take a photo of that. Then do a silhouette of that with your moody landscape shots.

Good idea :) One of them only howls when we come home from work, soooo happy to see us.
Other one howls whenever I use the right squeeze toy lol..

---

I got 2 films laying here looking at me. I think I am going for double exposures in (analog) camera. Two ways to do it:

Take the whole film
Rewind
Shoot the whole film again

To make sure it'll work, the easiest was is to shoot the entire first film with what you want to show, and shoot the layer/texture afterwards. That didn't make any sense.. Say above image, to do it on film, you shoot the silhouette of the guy first. Whatever is truly black (specially against bright colors or white), will be completely filled with the next image you use (say, grass, clouds, texture etc).

Either you just shoot away, only keeping above in mind, or you note down what you shoot/how the composition is, and try to match it when you are shooting the whole film for the second time.

Or, some cameras has the ability to do an immediate rewind, on only one frame. Here is how to do that:

Think I'll try the first option first. Will defiantly be a great challenge! For the second round, I will mostly shoot clouds, trees and ocean, I think.
