WTOM, On the Air!

I thought some of you might get a kick out of this.

My company set all us announcers up with rudimentary studios so we could broadcast from home during the quarantine. Today was the first day we went live with the new setups. My wife came downstairs and snapped this on her iPad while I was in the middle of a newscast. I normally dress casual at work, but not this casual:



Remind me never to get an iPad, btw.

Yeah, it is. I can't tell you how impressed I am with my company. The logistics of doing this across the entire network was incredibly daunting - getting all of us microphone headsets on short notice in itself was quite a feat! - but they got the ball rolling immediately with teams of engineers and all the managerial support we needed. We were actually given paperwork from the Department of Homeland Security saying we are an essential service and exempt from the driving prohibition, but the building that houses our studios was closing up and we wouldn't be able to get in. So it was a necessary move, not just a good one!
