Today, I wanted to try something different. I have an old Olympus OM-10 with the original 50mm f/1.8, and I simply removed the lens and held it up to the lens mount on my D3100 to experiment with freelensing. Wide open and tilting the lens back and forth yields some very cool and creative results. As you can see, although I am pretty much shooting straight at the Yashica, there is a diagonal plane of focus, so I can be selective about what exactly is in focus. It's a very fun way to shake things up and add a new creative touch.

Sometimes if you get really extreme, you get light leaks. I really love the effect it had on this shot specifically.

Yesterday was really cold, so I wimped out and stayed in. So you guys get some shots of my cookbooks edited with the Nik software. The books were done in Analog Efex. I really, really like what I can do with it.

Today, I was on the verge of not getting a shot at all when I looked out the window and saw some beautiful orange sunset light. I took advantage of it and snapped a shot right outside the house.

This shot is a good example of what Nik's Sharpener, Dfine, and Color Efex are capable of. Very impressed.

I tried something different today. I've been looking a lot at the work of the masters of street photography, especially Henri Cartier-Bresson. I've been feeling more and more that it's more important to get the shot in the moment than it is to have that shot be of ultimate quality. So I went out tonight and tried to focus on getting shots that interested or moved me, instead of just getting nice looking street portraits. Unfortunately, I had to stop after an hour because it was really dark. I like what I ended up with aesthetically.

The leaves are changing color, and the outside temperatures are bearable. Time for photowalking!

Here you can probably see why I am amazed with Nik Sharpener Pro.

The colors were lovely.

... Even when there's no color!

I've been experimenting with film effects lately. Here is a faded color shot, as it would look through an old Nikon.

And I'm beginning to have a love affair with a digitized version of Kodak Tri-X 400.

Great photos mate. You've gone up another notch!
And BTW it was the cheap crappy beers I was referring to here that cost $5.00!

Thanks Lawrence!

I like to think I am steadily improving all the time :D Helps when you have such beautiful things to shoot too.

Haha damn that's unlucky. The city where I live has 12 breweries in it, so I'm never far from a really good pint.
