Lucky you!!! :) But I don't mean that literally! There's much more that went into capturing these than luck.

The reason I say it is because we have a Blue Heron that shows up once in a while, but I have yet to even see it. A Blue Heron, an Osprey, and a Fox are on my photography wish list - all of which are around here locally.

We are lucky to have a good number of them here, and a few even stay year around. This particular guy lives a solitary life, and has claimed a particular pond as his. He chases off any other Great Blue Heron who land at "his" pond. I make it a point to look for this fellow every time I am in the area. I know his favorite places to hang out. It's pretty cool.

Hey Woody, as a bit of a horophile I'm curious to know a bit more about those fabulous watches. First: do either still work?

It's been YEARS since I've seen one of those calendar attachments - that's too cool! Unfortunately though the minute hand on the wristwatch is obscuring the first letter(s) of the name. Is it "Croton", by any chance? And the wristwatch...any idea of the brand? Any engravings on the back? Have you ever prised the back cover off either one to look at the movements? I'd love to see a pic if you ever do.

Anyway, terrific shots technically as always. And it was a bit of a thrill to see them personally, so thanks for posting 'em!

Croton Automatic 360, Spiedel wristband. Works when wound, but not sure how accurate.

I often prefer B&W with subjects like this, but here it's the opposite. I think the rust and patina, not easily discernable in B&W, really adds to the overall feeling so prefer the color version here. Great shots.
