This young owl had just started branching, and fell from a tree this morning. It was unhurt, and was walking around, likely trying to find a good place to climb back up into another tree where it would be much safer. I kept my distance, and Mom and Dad were keeping a close watch. I lost track of the little guy. I've seen newly branched owlets fall before, and they have an amazing ability to use those huge talons to grip the tree and climb right up the trunk. Hopefully all goes well for this one.
Camera geek side note: On the first shot I was able to get a sharp shot at 1/40 shutter speed on my 500mm PF hand held by leaning against an embankment and sort of digging my elbow into it to steady the shot.
