Optical illusion, here. The reflection of the bird in back appears right under the closer bird, and almost matches to look like that is the closer bird's reflection.
This guy might have been looking up at a hawk who was circling very high above at the time I was taking the picture, but he could also have been looking at a rival male hummingbird. Only he knows for sure.
I spent a good morning watching this Burrowing Owl pair. The male (left) was delivering one bug after another to the female, who then took them down into the burrow to feed the kids. She's part way down the hole in this shot. The young haven't shown themselves yet.
Over and over and over the male Burrowing Owl catches a bug or other small prey item and brings it to the waiting female, who takes it from the male and goes down the nest hole to feed the hungry kids.
