My wife and I took a short trip to the Miami area. She was competing in an aquathlon (like triathlon minus the run) to try to get on the team for the world age group championships. Unfortunately, she had two flats on the bike and was out of it. She trained for months for this race, so it was a real bummer.

She decided not to let it ruin our whole trip, though, so we hit Everglades National Park and Crandon Park to see some new birds and enjoy the mostly sunny weather. I photographed 15 new birds, and I'm still going through all the shots.

Ruddy Turnstone (I'm pretty sure, anyway. :) )

I feel bad for your wife..........that's tough, especially since it was a mechanical situation. Chin up!!! Hey, at least you got some nice shots out of it...........I'll bet that makes her feel better.........not!

She has competed in both triathlon and aquathlon world championships in the past. She really wanted to go to the next one, though, since it is in Denmark. She did like having a personal photographer, though, even if things didn't turn out so hot. :)

Nearly two years for me -- and now I'm spreading the invalid joy. Just my way of being a friend

Sorry to hear about the flats. Still lots of glass on the roads after Hurricane Irma.
