@Roy1961 We seem to have a good number around here, but I have only really been into birding for a couple of years. We may have had more in the past, and I wouldn't know. They are certainly one of my favorites!

Depending on the size, I would guess either a prairie dog or what we call a ground squirrel (Our nickname is "Squeeks" for the ground squirrel and I hate the destructive little creatures even if they are cute.) Ha!

Ding, ding, ding. Yep it's a Prairie Dog. The birds of prey, foxes and coyotes around here are quite happy that we have plenty of prairie dogs in this area.

There's a red-tailed Hawks' nest just a couple of miles away. Hoping to get some good shots when the light is better.
