Wide angle for D800

Finally got to play with the 16-35mm this weekend. So far I like what I see.

if weight is no issue, then the 16-35 does sounds like an interesting lens but I have heard mixed reviews once it is open beyound 20mm, which seems like the whole point of dealing with a heavy lens. I have both Nikon 20-35mm f2.8D and 16-35mm f4 VRII. The 20-35mm f2.8D is definitely solid but it does not match the sharpness of the 16-35mm f4 VRII and it is a fairly light lens although much longer in comparison.
