Well, I managed to lock up my 14x24 zoom,, maybe it was a bang ,, but the zoom became really really stiff, almost could
not turn the ring.

lucky it survived the Europe trip, so not critical.

so the debate,, local fix,, or Nikon repair,,,, well, it is only 2 years old, so technically,, Nikon might service under warranty,,

and off it went to the Nikon repair shop. Also, even without the warranty, this is the most expensive lens in my collection,,
and while I have a pro lens technician in town,, I just don't want to take a chance.

this brings me to my gripe, these new pro lens just are not built. If I compare this lens to my older Nikkor pro glass, just
cannot compare, the old metal lens, were so tough, I can say that a small amount of shock would never ever make the
zoom lock up,, so, while I still declare the 14x24 to be favorite lens, I do not declare it well built.

now I cross my finger to gt it back all fixed.

searching on the web,, it reports that this is a very common problem, and often just shipping the lens out on the rentals gets a very high failure rate,, of
the zoom locking up.. well at least the Nikkor technicians will be very familiar with the problem. clearly a design problem.
