tripod tip in a soft field, but the momentum of the stop was enough to destroy the insides of the lens. Repair cost exceeded the value of the lens.
I thought about buying another used one, but instead went in a different direction if a 150-600 Sigma Contemporary. Yes, yes, I know, not a Nikon. While the vast majority of my lens are Nikkor, I have a few Sigma lens. What interested me on this lens was the reach per dolllar. And frankly, after now breaking a few of the newer
generation Nikkor lens, I am not convinced the newer Nikkor lens are built that tough. My older Nikkor lens were tanks, and I am fairly rough with gear.
So,, I decided after reading some reviews to try this new sigma. My verdict is the lens lives up to the hype. Dollar for Dollar the best deal for a high quality ultra long
zoom lens, and the VR works on this lens. I got the USB tuning kit for fine tuning the focus, but right out of the box it has been sharp.

I broke my 14-24 again too,,, ouch, so that went back to Nikon for a repair for the standard 600 dollar repair. It seems to be their flat
rate, send it in for minor or major, the same 600 dollars. The first tme, it had suffer minor bump and the zoom was stiff, 600 dollars. this
time the hood was smashed and it was quite the mess. and same 600 dollars. The second time, I got my money worth.
Both times it was the bag not being tight enough on top with this flimsy design from Nikon, so,, this time I went and got a heavy duty
belt bag (actually designed to hold cameras but it is a big lens), but with a zipper closure. No more breaking lens because it fell out
of the provided lens pouch.
anyhow. 2015 is complete! and I declare Year3 Blog done, Happy New Year, and productive shooting into 2016.
