been still playing with that 500px site,, such a popularity site,, the window for a picture to take offf is really short,
so,, might be a good picture,, but if it does not grab in say the first 10 minutes,,

which also lends itself to gaming the system,, like what time to post a picture,, wait until most of Asia
and Europe is in bed, and even a good picture can go dormant,

and then there is this whole following thing, which tilts to people that have been there for
a while and built a following, I noticed the my "follower" are often the first to vote. So
if you have enough dedicated followers, your pictures can be pushed up faster.

we sure ae in the millisecond now world,, instant likes, instant demand,,,

but,, its a game,, so,, fun to play a bit,, my portfolio is decent size, so,, I can play
it a long time, and of course, I keep adding shots.

I do think it is worthwhile, makes you think about what is really decent in your
portfolio,, and well,, by sorting thru which of your shots become popular
you can try framing those first..

It would be interesting to put together a show of just those shots, to
see if the real world response is the same.

Also,, I know in the end,, if you REALLY want your pictures to command
higher prices, you have to submit to real world photo contests, and if
a shot can win nationwide award, then the galleries take notice.

So, maybe the 500px site can help pick the shots that might have
a better chance for that path.
