Why Not a Blog 57

While confirming that a TC-14 E would not work on my version of the 300 mm F4 ED, I was able to check out some of the other newer lens.

Got to say, being able to see lens in person is always of value, sometime pictures just don't convey the true information..

A couple of lens, caught my attention, was the 16 mm 2.8 ED lens, wow,, is it small, I always pictured it bigger, its tiny, and a 16mm! nice build, I did try it out, was cool, but wow, a lot of distortion which would need correction.

another lens I tried was the new 28-300, and must say, I was impressed, it really is the FX version of the 18x200 DX lens. Very similar decent build. These big zooms have gotten almost a bad rep, but, they have their place, when you want convenience. I would definitely consider having one of these my kit.

I have finished packing up my kit for the Island wedding, I went back and forth on the 300, but decided to stick with the 200 and the TC II. This give me plenty of reach on the D7000, up to 600mm as an effective 300/600 combo.

I keep debating about the 24-85 versus the 18x55, I picked the 24-85 for a bit higher Quality, and threw in an old manual 20mm for a bit more width.

I'll be leaving tomorrow,, so, depending upon the internet availability, might have a gap in the blog entries.

Going to a resort, and I think I will fill like a caged bird. I typically have a rent a car, and like to get up in the morning early and shoot here and there. I'll focus on waves, and subjects at the resort. Hopefully, the waves have some action, and early morning sunrise is dramatic.

I do have a coolpix underwater camera, so,, looking forward to underwater shots of fish. and also pictures in the waves. or other shots that I would not want to risk my camera.

I snagged my cards out of the other cameras, yielding another 64 G, so have 128G of memory cards. which is plenty, since I can dump pictures.

I expect to capture maybe 10-20G a day,, so,, maybe 140 G in a week max. That is one advantage of the 7000 over the 800, half the image space.
