Why Not a Blog 49

Reading the reviews of the resort....on an island,, finding that some say that the staff searches each and every room for valuables.. where I am co-shooting a wedding, and vacationing.

This has me re-thinking my gear. The small safe just won't be enough.. and I just don't want to be stressing and keeping track of my gear.

So a rethink.

D800 -> no
D7000 -> yes

Pro zooms-> no
24-85 -> Yes

Pro teles -> no
200 mm F4 manual -> yes
75-150 Series E -> yes

105 macro -> no
55 3.5 macro -> yes

So, the kit value drops from around 6K-7K

to 1400 dollars.

Plus the gear is a lot smaller, easier to hide, and stuff in the tiny hotel safe (but that has to hold laptops).

The Picture quality will not be hurt that much, and these are very fine lens capable of fantastic shots.

I am a bit irratated about not taking the 80-400 zoom, but, one has to trade off peice of mind with gear. Just don't want to be holding gear 24x7 because of dishonest people.

I think, I'll bring my 55-300 as my low cost zoom. this will provide me lots of flexibility during the wedding.

Not a pro zoom,, but I only paid 280 dollars, so,, not a Huge resort risk.
