I drove by one of my barns that I photographed,, and you guessed it, they were tearing it down for the wood,, kinda sad to see so many of these structures taken down,,,

In the last 10 years, over 60% of the barns in my portfolio are gone (maybe even a higher %),, these old structures are often on their last legs, and the photography is the last to capture them.

Some noisy people (not even property owners) will chase you away,, thinking they have the morale privacy high ground,, but I like,, we need to capture these wonderful symbols of a simpler Past (not a better past, simpler those farms worked hard, and were poor).

so,, keep on finding them,,, before they are all replaced with the factory farm barns of today,, huge metal sheds, wharehousing cows,, with mechanized feeders, and manure removal... these poor cows hardly get to pasture anymore..

oops,, complaining,,, but,, do miss the smaller farms... that kept the land open,,,, and provide beauty to our land.

I passed a barn Sunday that I have frequently photographed only to discover that they have modernized it and painted it a hideous beigy gray to match the new house that was built in front of it. Another icon lost.
