Why do you taunt me, Nikon?

Finally decided to pull the trigger on a D7100. I was between the 7100 with the 18-140 or the 7100 body with a Tokina 11-16. I was in and out on Friday and Saturday with no time, so Sunday am I sit down at the computer with a fresh cup of coffee and an empty credit card, ready to go.
Price on Friday for the body was $896...Whoa - today it's $996. +$100
Body and 18-140 was $1196 Friday - Up to $1296 . Crap. Up $100 to me is significant (8.5% increase)
So, ok, I'll have a look at that Tokina lens. I can use it on my D5100 until I get the 7100. Friday it was $429. Sunday it was $499. Increase of 16%
I figured (wrongly) that the announcement for the 5500 and 7200 was coming this weekend, and there would be a price drop to move the stock. Sure, the 5500 is going to ship. The 7200 looks like early fall 2015. So I'm playing the waiting game.......

I didn't think the Tokina 11-16 had the focusing motor, and thus wouldn't work on the D5100. I could be wrong, though.

You can watch those price jumps all day. Next time it hits in your budget range, grab and run...

Yes, there will always be "cheaper", but I honestly haven't regretted a day shooting with my slightly higher priced D7100. ;)

I am guessing that the $100 price difference may have been due to a rebate that concluded 1/3/15. I know that does not help, but ...:p

Done deal!

Just ordered the D7100 and the 18-140 lens.
It should be here by Friday.

And a big thanks @hark for pointing me to this deal.

Glad to be of help. It's a terrific camera, and that is an amazing price--enjoy!!! :)
