Who has pre-ordered a D7100?

I preordered. The lack of AA filter and 1.3x crop mode are appealing features to me (as are the 51 point AF, full weather sealing, larger screen, etc).

I am 2nd guessing myself a bit though. I still love my D7000... may end up putting the $$$ into new glass instead.

Have one on order. Going from D70s to the D7100, can't be anything but very happy after the issues with the D70s. Been with Nikon for over 40 years, but almost left after issues with D70s. Hopefully the D7100 will make amends. Anxiously awaiting. With new release date of the 14th, hope to have it by the weekend.

to update my previous point made about not being happy with the colors from my D7000:
I needed to correct white balance and also color calibrate my monitor. Now, i will take some shots when
i can and see what happens. The immediate not-post-processed results look better on my monitor. When
the Sd card has more shots, i will have some shots printed. THe fault was most probably mine, and not the
cameras. One exception however - i do like the warmer colors.

I did not pre-order a D7100. I'm happy with my set up and will use it for many years to come.

Now if a D300s replacement (D400???) comes out then that would have my interest very much.

That doesn't look like body only

sent from my phone

The stealer ordered both body only and kits, but only the kits arrived. I didn't need the kit lens, and cost-wise there's no difference in the kit lens as part of a package or buying separately. They just took out the lens.
Monster manual! But I've download it to my iPad already AND I've read it end to end 😃

So far, looks great. I've taken quite a few shots and with the SB400 attached too.
Def feels heavier than my D5100
Initial impression: awesome
One can use the top led to read the settings, but you can see them on the big screen using the info button. Live preview is great and also depth of field preview is def a plus.
2 SD cards. I set mine so jpeg on a 32G 1st and RAW to the 2nd, a 64G. Also you can set the movie's destination. I set it to the 2nd 64G card.

So far so good but my 18-135 zoom can't auto focus. Looks like a lens problem not a camera one. I think.
Prime lens is perfect...35mm/1.8G lovely crisp shots.
Weather today is overcast and drizzly, so nothing good enough to post up yet.

Surely this will help your photography! :)

Whether it been with my music or photography, I've never brought something new into the fold that didn't help me grow as an artist. It either inspires you, equips you, or frustrates you. Regardless, it makes you learn a little more about yourself and precisely where the line between what's "you" and what's "the equipment" really is.

Putting theory into practice, an afternoon of shooting throwaway bird shots in the backyard with the D800 and the same Sigma 150-500mm I've been using for 2 years with the D7000 has already convinced me that this was a worthy investment. The difference in sharpness is immediately recognizable. The D800's combination of lower noise and higher IQ means that the details in the feathers of a cardinal sitting on a rock 45 feet away are now visible. And I can shoot faster and stop motion more cleanly because I can bump the ISO a little more without compromising details in post-processing noise reduction.

So yes, it has indeed already helped my photography.

Hey Hippie, how about showing us a few photos in a thread in the D800 section of shots taken with the 800 and the 150-500? I'd be very interested to see how the lens performs in front of the 36MP sensor.

I am so impressed with this camera. It's so easy to use. Maybe having had the D5100 helped since many features are common.

I've set the two cards so that #1 is RAW - it's a fast (45m/s) Scandisc Extreme Pro 32g and JPEG go to card #2, a 4G Eye-Fi
Now when I shoot, the JPEG immediately loads to my iPad. It's really fast...and maybe it's me, but it does seem faster that my D5100.

I took these two, sat down immediately to look at the iPad and they'd already arrived.
