I just test some color-setting in my cam. Photos straight out of cam just resized

Which color is better? Thank you so much for your help and feedback. Please not the quality of the photo only about the color

Number 1

Number 2

Are they actually two different images? I see no difference on my monitor when compared side-by-side at high res.

Thanks so much.

Nuber one is standard setting number two I gave a saturation and sharpness a tick higher.

Actually Number one is the color I saw on that figure in that morning sunlight.

I'll try another photo.

Ted, I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Don't know why just found it very funny!!!! I would have to say on my monitor I barely see a difference if any. Nonetheless the colors look good.

Thanks

I am going with the camera standard setting. I asked cos tomorrow my daughter has her Sport-day at school. But I decide shooting RAW to be on the safe side. She is the drum major and after that a Cheerleader.

Properly set up in camera JPG should be excellent. That is what most sports photographers do. Use the DSLR similar to what you did in film days. Get it right in camera. That saves a lot of work in post. Of course there are situations where you want to polish the photo in post, especially where the DR of the scene is high or you would want to recover more from shadows.

The current in camera processing for Nikon is quite advanced, and in most cases, especially for events and street photography that is good enough. Landscapes are a different game altogether, where shooting raw and extracting the last ounce in post pays dividends.
